Beautiful Canal house with small garden in quiet neighborhood in centre of Amsterdam, Netherlands
Hello Friends,
We are Stephan (61), Lishe (61). We have 2 daughters (Lotta 28 and Sarah 25; they are living on their own. Sometimes they come and visit us on holidays.
You won’t get a more centrally located spot in Amsterdam than our place in a gorgeous 17th century Yellow Canalhouse. It is on one of the famous canals in the heart of historic Amsterdam. But....in a very quiet neigbourhood with lots of green and no traffic from Thursday to Sunday at night. Our guests like the beautiful view from our window on the canal. We occupy the basement (souterrain), groundfloor and the first floor of the building (stairs, no elevator). Three bedrooms, a bathrooms, two toilets, a well-equipped kitchen and small alley (steeg) as our 'garden'. We have lots of flowers and plants around our house and a so called 'geveltuin'. In front of the house we have a small terrace in between flowers where you can have your breakfast or lunch looking over the canal.
The apartment comfortably fits 4 people.
The neighbourhood is called 'de Lastage' and it is a very quiet part in the center of Amsterdam. Although you are within 5 minutes in the vibration of the Nieuwmarkt with it's artistic cafes and restaurants. On Saturdays on Nieuwmarkt (2 minutes) is the famous organic market, which offers fresh fish, vegetables, fruits and flowers, all organic. Our house is at walking distance from Central Station and 15 minutes from the airport Schiphol by train.
Our home is an excellent hub for getting to know the city of Amsterdam with all its cultural offerings - Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Modern Art Museum, The Hermitage, Anne Frank huis, Jewish Museum, Rembrandthuis etc.etc. - and its surroundings. Ofcause you can go there easily with bikes as well.
Within a 30 min trainride you arrive on Zandvoort's beach, the beautiful city of Utrecht or the Zaanse Schans with its picturesque display of classic wooden houses. Within an hour you can visit The Hague, the modern architecture of Rotterdam, the windmills at Kinderdijk, take a ferry to one of the islands in the northern part of the country or visit the natural surroundings of the Oostvaardersplassen or High Park the Veluwe.
We have two cats and kindly ask you to feed them. We love pets and are more than happy to take care of yours if needed.
