Spacious Home in San Diego County
Enjoy your home away from home in sunny, Southern California. El Cajon/Mt. Helix sits adjacent to San Diego, boasts wonderful weather and a cute downtown with great restaurants and shops. Let our 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home be your home base on your next vacation. A beautiful respite from the bustling downtown San Diego, we are in a great location that will get you to any of our major attractions, beaches, and downtown in 20 minutes! Our home is a park-like setting featuring a built-in pool, hot tub, outdoor pond, fruit trees, pool (billiards) table, foosbal table, ping pong table, and basketball hoop. Must have a car. Our home is on a private road where kids can enjoy riding bikes, skateboards and playing sports. We have lemon, orange, apple, peach trees and grapevines on our property. Extremely kid-friendly with lots of Legos, Playmobil, bikes, and toys (but if you don’t have kids, easy to shut their bedroom door and not see any of it – that’s what I do!)
In addition to San Diego attractions, we are only 2 hours to Disneyland and a little over 2 hours to get to Los Angeles and Hollywood. San Diego is a beautiful coastal California town with access to over 70 miles of beaches, Balboa Park, the world-famous San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND California, and much more.

¡Una experiencia maravillosa! La ubicación de la vivienda fue excelente, situada en un entorno maravilloso que superó nuestras expectativas. La familia anfitriona fue muy cordial y nos ayudó mucho durante nuestra estancia, haciéndonos sentir como en casa. La casa intercambiada era de ensueño, con todas las comodidades que necesitábamos. Además, disfrutamos de una excelente gastronomía mexicana y de un clima fantástico. En resumen, fue una experiencia inolvidable y altamente recomendable. ¡Gracias por todo!

My husband, George and I have been married for 17 years and have two children, 16 and 14 years old. We have a huge extended family in La Mesa/El Cajon and love time with cousins. We all love sports – playing and watching! Especially futbol (the REAL futbol 😉)! I love cooking and eating. We are very social and outgoing. We swapped with families from Spain in 2018, 2022, and 2024 for 3-5 weeks. We loved exploring, playing soccer at the park, eating (crepes, jamon, boquerones, arroz negro), and the late nights! Both of our children were in a Spanish immersion program, which is why we ideally would like to visit Spain. They were taught 100% in Spanish until they are 10 years old. They are close to fluent. Unfortunately my Spanish is not great, but I can get around – and we have our kids to help us communicate! We would love to stay at a house and actually “live” there as a local would. My husband owns an insurance brokerage and will be working remotely during this time. The kids and I will be practicing our Spanish and exploring! Through the kids’ school we have hosted 3 interns from Spain (for 3 months each) in the last 6 years, so hopefully will be able to see some familiar faces on our trip. Note, we have a sweet Bernadoodle puppy, Cici, but we will find a dog-sitter for our trip.
