Welcome to La Creuse
Relax and enjoy the wonderful French rural life in lovely La Creuse.
Our house was built in 1906 and added onto in 2017. Then major renovations took place in 2022/2023.
The first floor has 2 bedrooms. The first guest bedroom has a queen size bed (160 x 200) and the second guest bedroom has a double bed (150 x 190). Both bedrooms have bedside tables, lamps and chest of drawers. They have both been recently renovated with a new ceiling and new walls, freshly painted, new rugs.
There is also a large bathroom with a shower over bath, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail. It has a new ceiling and new flooring and painted (January 2023).
There is also a large office with 2 desks and a bookshelf and large cube unit which has board games, books, CD and DVDs. We have very good Wifi.
We will provide you with all the necessary linen.
On the ground floor is a well stocked large brand new kitchen - Jan 2023 - with all new appliances (except for a coffee machine as we like to go out for our coffee fix), new lounge room and dining room with large doors opening to the front of the house. The house faces south so receives the beautiful French sun.
These rooms have also had new ceilings, walls and new tiles in Jan 2023.
There is a slow combustion heater and we will provide wood and kindling if swapping during the colder months.
We have French TV plus there are plenty of movies and TV series to watch on hard drives.
The extension to the rear of our house (2017) has an anteroom and craft room. As well as a fully equipped laundry including double trough, washing machine, dryer and extra fridge/freezer and another bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin.
There are electric heaters and fuel heaters. Overhead fans are located in the kitchen and office with extra pedestal fans if needed.
We have a beautiful terrace at the back of the house which has shade, barbeque, tables and chairs.
You will require a car as there is no public transport - we would consider a car exchange depending on circumstances. You will need an Emission Sticker for your car if travelling into certain larger towns or cities of France.
Also note - we have an attic bedroom on the 2nd floor which has a king size bed (180 x 200) and new full bathroom (Our bedroom). The use of this bedroom can be discussed if more room is required. So potentially the house could sleep 6 (3 couples) although our preference is only swapping with couples or 2 couples as our house is not suitable for children.
Don't hesitate to send us offers.
Our house is always kept very clean, tidy and ready for last minute swaps.
If we do send you an offer to swap we would absolutely appreciate a quick response, whether you are interested or not.

Our Neighbourhood
Nearest Airport: Limoges - 89
Our village has about 100 inhabitants including surrounding hamlets.
We are situated in a rural part of France where there are rolling hills, green fields, wonderful areas for walking (randonées/hiking). Many lakes and picnic areas. Lots of little villages to explore and not too far from the Central Massif where there's skiing at Le Mont Dore (about 1 and a half hours drive). The area is great for eBiking.
The nearest amenities are 10 kms & 14kms away so you will need a car as there is no publc transport.
You will find a supermarket, 2 boulangeries, 2 cafes and 2 restaurants, plus 2 pharmacies, doctors, post office, banks and tourist office in Gouzon. There is a small market each Tuesday. A larger village 14 kms (Boussac) has more restaurants, fantastic markets as well as the usual banks, post office, hairdressers, pharmacies, large health centre. Markets in Boussac are on a Thursday and definitely worth a visit. During the summer months there are many brocantes, fetes and fairs making La Creuse vibrant.
There are many larger towns within or just over an hours drive such as Limoges (Porcelain capital), Montlucon (train station connection) Gueret, Chateauroux (train station connection), Aubusson (tapestry capital). There are great market towns as well such as Felletin (Fridays), Argenton sur Creuse ( Saturdays), Gargalisse (beau village), St Severe, Chambon sur Vouieze, La Chatre plus many, many more. A favorite of ours is Collonge La Rouge over near Brive.
The church at Moutier d'ahun is a must to see as very unique. As is the church at Toulx St Croix and it's sarcophagi.
Being in central France is extremely handy as you can be in many different countries in less than half days drive (well almost).
Our neighbours are all French and are just lovely and welcoming.
We have some English families in the area but it's mainly a French area. During summer we have lots of Dutch, English, Belgium and South African people visit the region.
We had snow in our village on Christmas Day 2020 which was magical (especially for Australians that are used to it being 42 degrees on Christmas Day).

About Our Family
We are a retired Australian couple in our 60's living in La Creuse, France since 2016.
Bill, Information Technology Manager and Wendy, Online Communications.
We would consider all destinations and are not limited to school holidays. So anytime of the year is possible. From a few days, a week, to a few weeks or a few months.
We are non-smoking, clean, tidy, reliable, honest, considerate and friendly and will take great care of your property as we would expect of you with ours.
Our preference is to ensure we have a dedicated parking spot/area/space.
We prefer to swap without pets to care for as we might be away from your home overnight or for a few days depending on the swap.
Our house is not suitable for children. Even though our house can sleep 6, we prefer to swap with another couple or perhaps 2 couples.
Depending on the time of year, if you could water our garden that would be great. There's a hose,
watering cans and water tanks. Harvest whatever is growing. There's always lots of herbs and usually tomatoes, Lettuce, courgettes depending on the time of year.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information.
It's usually the 2 of us travelling. We might want to bring along another couple for 4 or 5 days which we can discuss.
We have 2 sons with their wife and partner who live in Australia. We have two grandchildren. They don't travel with us in Europe but may come to stay if we arrange a swap to Australia but we can chat about that beforehand.
Looking for swaps to Sunshine Coast, Maleny, Montville, Buderim, Caloundra, Mooloolooba, Maroochy River area as they live in Conondale. We also would like to exchange cars when swapping to Australia. Our car is a 7 seater Grand Scenic 2017.
Happy to discuss options.
So surprise us with your offer to swap.
We are available on What'sApp if you would like to chat.
