Welcome to Kilkenny! www.kilkennytourism.ie Our home is 8km from Kilkenny just off the N78 on a quiet road in peaceful countryside. A comfortable 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with all modern conveniences. Large private gardens are secure and safe for children to play. Our home is on an elevated site with lovely views of the countryside and the city lights at night. We live 1km from Dunmore caves. Nearby there are walks in Jenkinstown woods and at Kilkenny castle .www.kilkennycastle.ie In Castlecomer (8km) there are wood land walks, a children's playground,zip wires, lakes for fishing and boating and a coal-mining heritage centre. www.discoverypark.ie.
Kilkenny is renowned for art and craft www.madeinkilkenny and is the home of the "National design and Craft Gallery ",
Golf courses : "Mount Juliet" is nearby and "The K Club" is within driving distance.There are also local courses in Kilkenny and Castlecomer.
Kilkenny is the home of hurling ,Irelands national sport ,a visit to a game is a unique experience!!
From our home you can explore other parts of Ireland with day trips,for example to Dublin,the south coast, "Rock of Cashel" or Glendalough ,Co Wicklow possible. Many of our Intervac friends have enjoyed visits to the west of Ireland staying overnight in Bed and Breakfast. (Galway two and half hours)
Kilkenny is a busy town with tourists visiting all year round to visit the Norman castle, cathedral, climb the round tower www.stcanicescathedral.com and follow the craft trail. There is plenty of shopping,restaurants,hotels and great pubs for a drink of Guinness and regular Irish music sessions in the many pubs. A vibrant nightlife ! We have a trampoline, bicycles and other toys - footballs, hurleys ,raquets and a table tennis table. We have a piano, guitars, banjo and tin whistle!!
It is convenient to fly Dublin airport(141km) or Cork airport (157km) and our nearest ferry port is Rosslare (102km).

Our home is 8km from Kilkenny city. We are located 1km off the N78 on a quiet country road which is safe to walk and cycle on. Friendly helpful neighbours are a short walk away. We can see Kilkenny City from our garden and the lights at night. Kilkenny is a small medieval city which has tourists visiting all year around. Kilkenny is home to a Norman castle set in the "castle park", St Canice's Cathedral and Round Tower,the Medieval Mile Museum , Butler Art Gallery, Roath House and much more. There are plenty of restaurants,cafes,pubs and shops. Jenkinstown woods and Dunmore countryside park are convenient
for a nice walk as well as the river walk in Kilkenny .Dunmore caves are 2km from our home.

The holiday home in Dinard is accurately described on the intervac site. Our home was perfect when we returned from the exchange. We made good friends with the family and our daughter did a successful youth exchange with a member of the French family.
The family were a pleasure to exchange with and communication was good throughout. The apartment is accurately described on the Intervac site,spacious, large balcony,centrally located and walking distance to the beach.

We are a happily retired couple! ( Teacher and Nurse)
Intervac members since 2007.We have enjoyed thirteen family holidays and three successful youth exchanges but our family ages 28,27 and 23 do not usually travel with us these days. Elsie is our Welsh Terrier. She goes to stay with our good neighbours when we exchange.
We keep active walking,running and cycling. We love live music and concerts of which there is plenty in Kilkenny. Our interests include cinema and theatre, classic cars,Alliance Francaise ,flower club ,walking on the beach in Tramore, reading and current affairs. During the summer we tour Ireland in our caravan and we have brought it to France on a few occasions.
