The city-center of Arnhem is 20 minutes by car or bus. The bus stops at the end of our street, (3 minutes)
It takes 7 minutes by train from the brand new train station in Westervoort to the center of Arnhem. Arnhem- Amsterdam is 1 hour by train.

Arnhem is surrounded by green parks and forests, such as the National nature reservate: De Hoge Veluwe and the Posbank. Here you might pick up one of the white "free" bicycles, and make a nice trip through the beautiful forests. In this park you will be able to visit the famous art museum: Kröller Muller Museum, and the " life-under-the-earth" museum.
In Arnhem you'll find a very famous Zoo, called Burgers Bush, with safari, tropic hall, desert hall, and sea-life hall. If you are interested in cultural activities one of the museums such as the Open Air Museum, the Africa museum and a War-museum could be interesting. You will also find a tropic swimhall with waves, slides etc. in Arnhem. Arnhem has a nice shopping centre with big centre-square full of bars, cafe's, restaurants and sunny terraces.
Arnhem has been awarded as the most pleasant and interesting shopping-centre of the Netherlands. Arnhem is also recently awarded as the greenest park-town of the Netherlands.

10 minutes (by car) from our house there is a beautiful nature lake-swimming-place, with beaches, eat and drink-terraces etc. You will be able to find the  pictures under the item: "neighbourhood". Very nice for a beach day with young children!

You can reach Amsterdam by car in 1 1/4 hour  drive. The most comfortable way to the center of Amsterdam is to park the car outside Amsterdam at one of the Transferia, also called:P+R-zone. For the charge of 8 euro (parking for a whole day), included 5 free go and return-tickets to the center of Amsterdam by metro, train or bus. Easy to do for a one-day-trip.
You can reach the coast of Holland within 1 1/2 hour by car.
The border of Germany is 20 minutes by car, this means a visit to several German cities is easy to do. Such as: Kleve, Düsseldorf, Oberhausen.

Our house is situated in a very child-friendly and quiet neighbourhood with mostly house-owners. Many playgrounds and parks, also a children-farm 10 minutes walk from our house.
Supermarket for your daily needs, bread, and a snackbar are located at 500 meter from our house. Our village Westervoort  has a small shopping center and some nice restaurants, Chinese, Turkish, Shoarma, Pizza etc.  Also the Ikea and Mac Donalds are very close if you like fast food.......
At the opposite of our house there is a big playground for the children. You will be able to watch your children from the house while they are playing, very save, without traffic.....The playground belongs to a primary school, that obviously is closed during the summer-holidays.

Westervoort  is a nice region for a bicycle-ride.....along the riverside, and through the country-villages. 

Car-exchange is possible in case you would like to travel by airplane and arrive at an airport in Amsterdam, Eindhoven or Dusseldorf Wheeze.
Our car is an electric Dacia Spring, january 2022.
The car can be loaded for max 200 kilometers, we realize this is not a big distance but there are plenty of fast charging stations where you can charge the car along the highways in Holland.
In case you would like to drive longer distances it is better to hire a car at the airport for your holiday in Westervoort.
In our garden in the front of our house we have a private charging station.

We enjoyed 36 exchanges with intervac-members before, they were all very succesful experiences for both exchange-partners!

We are looking forward to contact with our next exchange-family for our holidays in 2024.
Most of the holidays we will travel with 2 persons, Ben and Ilse.

Our doughter lives in a very modern apartment in Amsterdam, she is also interested to do exchanges.
This is an apartment with one double bedroom. In the living room there is a sofa.
An additional inflatable bed can be provided.
The apartment comes with a private parking garage
