Oulu, Finlândia

There are lot to do in Oulu for children and adults. Oulu is a middle sized town and it’s easy to explore by bike. there are plenty of bike routes. Everything is quite near as we live about 3 kilometres from the town centre. It’s easy to rollerskate in the cycling paths as Oulu has an extensive bike and walkway network.
 
One of our most loved place in Oulu is Nallikari. There is a great beach by the sea and Speedpark with dune buggies and bumper cars which our sons used to love.
 
Tietomaa, an interactive science centre is worth to visit. There are lots of exhibitions and things to try and study for whole family. One of the most popular exhibition in Sporttimus, where you are able to try  for example ski jump simulator and floorball accuracy shooting.
Fishing is easy to do in Oulu, for example in the River Oulu or in Kiiminki (25 mins drive) at Koiteli. You may be able to catch a salmon if you’re lucky. Fishing permits are easy to get by mobile phone. We have lots of fishing rods, for children also, they are free to use.
Hailuoto is the largest island in the Northern part of Gulf of Bothnia, it is a beautiful island with sandy beaches and clean and fresh nature. It’s an ideal place for a daytrip. Going there is also an experience with a ferry trip.

Nice place to visit is the open air museum Turkansaari, it’s situated in the River Oulu about 14 km east from town. It was an old trading centre and a place of salmon fishing. Now it’s an open air museum where you can see  how to make tar and forms of old livelihood.
