We live in an extremely quiet residential area called "the South End." There is a small park area on the Northweest Arm, located at the end of our street, A short walk through the woods -- or a slightly longer walk along the streets -- gets you to Point Pleasant Park, a 185 acre public park that wraps the southern tip of the city and was once home to a number of British forts. The Parks is filled with trails, and gives access to the water at many spots. Nearer to our house are two universities - Saint Mary's and Dalhousie. "SMU" is a 2 minute walk, while "Dal" is a 5 minute walk. Both campuses are beautiful and afford nice places to stroll, throw a ball, or attend a public-pay university recreation center (gyms, courts, etc.). Downtown Halifax is a 20-minute walk (3 min by Uber, 7 minute by bus - which stops at the end of our street). The downtown has many nice restaurants and cozy pubs. There is a very active day- and night-life in Halifax, including Busker Festival, JazzFest, SailGP, military Tattoo, pro soccer (mens - "Wanderers", womens - "Tide"), sunset cruises, and Comedy Fest (Mike Birbiglia in 2025).
