Nice stand-alone house with sunroom and large garden in Ubbergen, Netherlands. All the benefits of living in the 'green' and very close to a cozy historic city with all facilities.
Besides the summer holiday we are always interested in a short exchange during the year.
Our house is a stand alone house, build in 1966. In 2022 we had a new roof and huge dormer installed. We love it for the beautiful sun room and large garden. There is always a place in sun or in the shadow, whatever you prefer.
Downstairs you'll find:
A large living room with cosy woodstove and an attached sunroom.
To get entertained there is a TV, high quality Hi-Fi Stereo and many games and books in the large bookshelf.
Kitchen with all you need, including coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave and oven.
Bathroom with shower and second toilet.
Two bedrooms both with a double bed.
A home office with UTP internet cable facilities and heavy duty game computer. You may use this if requested.
Upstairs you'll find:
Two comfortable bedrooms with beautifull view for up-to 4 people.
Beautiful new second bathroom with large bath and beautiful view.
For families with children:
There are a lot of toys and games for kids between 1 and 99 years old.
Outside / Garden:
We have a lovely large round the house garden with a stunning 360 view,
Detached from the house we have a large garage with 6 bikes and tools.
And in the garden we have a small garden house.
If you have kids or a dog they can play freely in our fenced garden.
We also have 2 outside fireplaces that can be used.
Right behind the house there is a playground including a table tennis table and sports area.

It’s very safe for children to play outside. There are plenty of playgrounds, one situated right behind our garage. The neighborhood is situated between the rivers Rijn and Waal with its grass lands and farms (loads of fruit trees!) and very near the city centre of Nijmegen.
Sports
Five minutes from our house you can jump on to one of the best, coolest, haviest mountainbikes trails of the Netherlands. 73 Kilometers of trail. Check https://www.mtb-rijkvannijmegen.nl/ and this Youtube video; https://youtu.be/_v2ihTBYiXE
Right in front of our house a butifull bikeroute passes by. And on top of that you can go for hours and hours of also hiking from our house. Nearby you can find several sportsfields like tenniscourts, footballfields and much more.
Region
The city of Nijmegen is only 100 meters away. https://youtu.be/czbpeTEJ3FI Nijmegen has lots to offer for every visitor; old architecture, museums, lots of restaurants and bars for every pocket, many festivals (especially in summer!), theaters, parks and a beautiful environment with tiny villages, forests and two rivers. Nijmegen is very bike-friendly. https://youtu.be/Rn4UUJ5M4No We have three regular city bikes, one racing bike and two mountain bikes.
Culture
We would like to recommend the Kröller-Möller museum with a beautiful collection of paintings from Vincent van Gogh. The museum is surrounded by a sculpture garden and situated as a whole in the middle of a large nature conservation area. Very special!
A part of Dutch culture is also “de Efteling", a kind of fairy tale park. Everyone in the Netherlands goes there as a child, as a parent and as a grandparent.
Typical for Nijmegen culture is the “Vierdaagse”, a four day march with 40.000 people walking in the area of Nijmegen accompanied by a large festival (all sorts of music, art, activities you can imagine) with over 1 million visitors (14-20 july 2012).
Nature
Our house is situated in very small village in a landscape of rivers and dykes, perfect area for making a bike tour or hike. Our house is situated right at the bottom of the small hills on the east of Nijmegen who provide a beautiful view over the Ooijpolder. Also a large forest area with possibilities for hiking and biking is 3 minutes walking away. Worth to mention are also the typical sand dunes on the North Sea Coast and the Waddeneilanden (Dutch islands) in the north.
Transport
Every 30 minutes there is a bus to Nijmegen Central Station (bus stop at 3 minute walk). From Nijmegen Central Station there are regular trains to all parts of The Netherlands. The city centers of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and also many touristic highlights are reachable by train within 100 minutes.
By car you’re only 10 minutes away from the highways to all directions (all on highways).
Nearby airports are Weeze (Germany, 30 minutes by car), Eindhoven (60 mins by car) Dusseldorf (Germany, 60 minutes by car) and Amsterdam Schiphol (90 minutes by car or train). Arnhem Central Station is a nearby international railway station with trains coming in from the direction of Switzerland, but also Berlin.

Een prachtige plek om te verblijven, met een fijne tuin en een prachtige keuken. Ubbergen is een prima uitvalsbasis voor de fraaie omgeving, maar ook voor tripjes naar Duitsland. De bewoners, Angelique en Emiel, zijn erg aardige en behulpzame mensen, die bij vragen direct te benaderen zijn. Dit is zeker een woning waar je met veel plezier je ruilvakantie kunt doorbrengen.

'En route' is the name of our house, and that's what we are doing in life, we are on our way:)
We are a family of three people, Angelique and Emiel and our son Luuk (22 years old).
Luuk nowadays lives most of the time in Delft where he studies to become an Architect. Delft is a city at the other side of the Netherlands.
We have a Labrador dog called 'Lucky'. What to do with the dog at an exchange is to decide per situation. And we have a super friendly cuddly cat called Joy.
We love home exchanges. We have exchanged several times and think it is a fantastic way to enjoy the holiday.
