House in Sterrebeek, village in the green surroundings of Brussels
Sterrebeek is a quiet village about 10 km from center Brussels, halfway between Brussels and Leuven. There is easy access by car and by public transport to Brussels city center. Sterrebeek is a part of the community of Zaventem where you find the national airport of Brussels.
Distance by car or public transport to the major cities : Brussels-City center 15'- Leuven 15'- Ghent 30'- Antwerp 30'- Namur 45'- Bruges 1h - Liège 1h - Ostend / Belgian coast 1h15'.
By train you can visit Paris (1h15') - Amsterdam ( 2h) - London (2h) - Köln (2h) - Luxembourg (2h) - Lille (40').
Sterrebeek is a green village. There are two manors in the village with large parks. There are lot of possibilities to walk and cycle. In no time you find yourself in the middle of the fields.
Very near to Sterrebeek and also accessable by bus or bicycle is a nice village called Tervuren. There you find the Museum of Africa surrounded by a large park with lake and forest. The museum is very interested, dates from our colonial past in Congo , and shows a lot of artifacts.
The nearest city apart from Brussels is Leuven . A very nice university city with medieval center and a lot of summer animation.

A very successful home exchange that originally began as a house-sitting arrangement but turned into a full home exchange. The rooftop flat is lovely and within walking distance of the U-Bahn, offering a direct connection to the city centre. Communication was smooth throughout, and we had the pleasure of meeting Tamara, Florian, and Isidor before their return. They are truly delightful people — as second-generation home exchangers, they know all the ins and outs of the process.
Jempi und Yolande haben immer sehr schnell geantwortet und sind uns in vielen Punkten sehr entgegen gekommen. Sowohl ihr Hausals auch die Wohnung am Meer.waren super vorbereitet, sodass wir uns gleich wohl gefühlt haben. Auch unsere Wohnung haben sie in einem sehr guten Zustand hinterlassen. Wir haben uns auch sehr gefreut, dass sie sich am Ende des Urlaubs nich einige Stunden Zeit genommen haben,.um uns zu treffen. Wir haben einen wunderbaren Nachmittag miteinander verbracht.
Francine and Andy are very nice people we met at the beginning of our exchange. Their house is in a quiet neighbourhood with friendly neighbours in Oakville, a town on Lake Ontario south of Toronto. A good base for visiting metropolitan Toronto and Niagara Falls. From there, we also took a 5-day trip to Montreal and Ottawa and Algonquin park, among others. A very active holiday. There were also provincial parks in the immediate surroundings, where we took beautiful walks. The house was certainly as described on the website, very stylish, clean and very comfortable. We thank Francine and Andy for the nice welcome and for hosting us and our friends.
We spent a very nice 10 days in Juan Carlos and Maria's holiday flat. The contact was friendly and efficient and the flat was in line with the info on the site and very compliant. The flat is within walking distance of the sea, with a wide range of beach bars. We also made use of the swimming pool. Nearby is a supermarket with a wide selection. Tor del Mar has a nice centre and is at the same time a good base for visiting the main cities in the area, such as Granada, Cordoba, Malaga, Ronda.... We hired a car to cover the distance from the airport and also to explore the surrounding area. It is a non-simultaneous exchange and we hope that our exchange partners will also enjoy their stay in our house.

Experienced home-exchangers
We are Jempi and and Yolande de Cooman. We live in Sterrebeek, a small village about 10 km from Brussels.
Jempi is retired staff officer at the Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels.. He is born in 1955. Yolande (°1959) is retired finance controller.
Together we are Intervac organisers for Belgium. Our experience in home exchanging goes back to 1985.
We are both very interested in culture. We like to read good books and enjoy a good restaurant. We enjoy as well the peace and quiet of nature surroundings as the liveliness of the city.
We have 3 adult children 5 grandchildren and 4 bonus.
