We are a couple of Italian artists in our '50's. We love living in Camogli and enjoy the sea all year around. But we also love travelling and we are open to any destination worldwide. Among our favourites are the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, New York, Ireland, Greece, New Zealand, Patagonia. But don't be discouraged if your country is not in the list! Preferably we'd like to exchange for at least two weeks or longer. Even very long exchanges of several months can be evaluated. Please feel welcome to enter in touch with us anytime!
Some more words about the apartment and the area now. The main good point is the truly astounding view over the old port, the lighthouse and Portofino mountain (which is a protected regional park with many interesting hiking trails). The beach is very close, just a couple of minutes walking, There are too beaches actually, the bigger one is organised with sun-beds, umbrellas, canoes and so forth, the smaller beach is free. Please be aware that you can expect to find many people in both beaches from the end of May to mid September (usually we go swimming in the early morning or after sunset to avoid the crowds).
The apartment is very old-fashioned, quirky in a a charming way, but a bit unpractical. The bathroom is rather small, with a creaking folding door, and the shower cabin might not fit everyone. The kitchen is well equipped but very basic and some of the lamps spread through the house are rather dim (this cannot be improved because the all electric installation is outdated). The apartment is located at the sixth (and last) floor of a beautiful painted house from 19th century and there is no elevator. This is very OK for us but some people might find it tiresome when they need to come and go many times a day... Perhaps I should also add that there aren't available wardrobes, we keep many clothes in bags spread here and there through the flat, so everything is a bit in a mess, unfortunately. But we would try to make at least some space available in the drawers.
All in all we feel that Camogli is a wonderful place in itself and an excellent basis to explore Liguria, many interesting places can be reached easily by train, as the famous Cinque Terre. But almost every village along the coast has its charms and beauty. Genova Nervi with its wonderful Anita Garibaldi promenade along the cliffs is just 20 minutes away by train. The railway station is less than 10 minutes walking away from the house. Camogli also offers many bars and restaurants, two supermarket and fishmongers, and an excellent market every Wednesday morning.
