Schönes Haus in Bonn Bad Godesberg in Rheinnähe

Our house is located in a quiet side street in the heart of Plittersdorf in Bonn Bad Godesberg. It was built in 1927 and has a charm of its own. It has been completely renovated and expanded in 2009. Very close there are two supermarkets, a bakery and other shops and restaurants. There is a small garden with a trampoline. The connection to the train station Bad Godesberg and Bonn Centeral Station is very good. There are several bus lines. To the Rhine is takes a 5-minute walk. Bad Godesberg itself has some nice beer gardens, one public swimming pool located directly at the Rhine, many restaurants, theaters, shops etc.

More offers are in Bonn center and Bonn Beuel on the other side of the Rhine. Due to the long-standing seat of the federal government, there are some very interesting places. Our favorites are the Haus der Geschichte, the Bonn Opera and the Art and Exhibition Hall. Due to the corporate headquarters of DHL and German Telekom and a seat of UN in Bonn is very colorful and internationally. At the same time the city has retained through the carnival, breweries and the language its local character.

At the Rhine there is a bike path on both sides. The bike path is very well to drive. It is a pleasure, to ride on a bike path from Bonn Bad Godesberg to Bonn center (10 km) or in the opposite direction to Koblenz (70 km). Along the way, a stop in one of the many restaurants and beer gardens can be made. In recent years, trails for walking (Rheinsteig) have been signposted on both sides of the Rhine.

On the other side of the Rhine, there is the Siebengebirge with the famous hills Drachenfels and Petersberg. Both the Drachenfels and the Petersberg can be visited by walking and with a short ride on a ferry. When the weather is good, on the Drachenfels one can see Cologne. In Siebengebirge there are several trails for walking. The signposting is good.
Just south of Bonn, there is the Ahr valley with the walking trail Rotweinwanderweg. The path leads through the vineyards and offers fantastic views of the Ahr Valley. Along the Ahr there are several smaller cities with wine sales and restaurants. Also along the Ahr there is the train to Bonn via Bad Godesberg. The way back can therefore also be made by train.
Still further south from Luxembourg via Trier to Koblenz there is the river Moselle. We stayed there in April 2015 for a short break. Again, there are well-signposted hiking and cycling trails.

In the north there is Cologne with a bright range of cultural, entertainment, shopping, etc highlights. By train it takes about 30 minutes from the railway station Bad Godesberg to Cologne Central Station.

The house itself has on the ground floor a kitchen with stove, microwave, oven, etc. and a seating area. The dining room leads into the living room and from there into the garden. Furthermore there is a guest toilet with shower. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a balcony, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, a private office. In the basement there is a guest room and a storage cellar with a washing machine and dryer. Overall, the house has 130 square meters is in a good condition and furnished lovingly.

Here is the timetable for the busses in Bonn
http://www.swb-busundbahn.de/nc/bus-und-bahn/fahrplaene/fahrplanauskunft.html

Food
I recommend you the go to the market in Bad Godesberg at the Moltkeplatz on Saturday morning. Buy there some fresh food from the local market tenders. It is a little bit more expensive. The quality is much better. There is a market tender that sells fish. You can get smoked salamone or trout there. Also very good is the fish soup. You can take it home, just warm it and have a wonderful lunch. Most of the market tender should speak English. Bonn is an international city.

Shopping
Try the local and worldwide known Gummibärchen from Haribo. It is factory outlet

Activities
Concerning walking there is the Siebengebirge on the other side of the rhine. Take a walk along the river direction south. After a while there is a fairy. Take the fairy to the other side and you are there. On of the hills is the Drachenfels. It is hard to get up. You can also take an old train. Once you are at the top, there is a big platform. Enjoy the view! When the weather is good, you can see Cologne. Have a picnic there and walk back. We have two books with routes for walking. Also here is a link http://www.siebengebirge.com/. Unfortunately everything is in German.

If you walk along the rhine on our side direction Siebengebirge, have a short stop at this café for the best cake in town.
http://www.konditorei-nick.de/

Or have something to drink in one of the beer gardens
http://www.rheinhoteldreesen.de/de/rheinhotel-dreesen-biergarten

There is also the public swimming pool "Freibad Rüngsdorf"

If you want to go by boat here is the timetable

Concerning museum, this is our favourite Museum
http://www.landesmuseum-bonn.lvr.de/de/startseite.html
It is interesting for Kids and some of the exhibition are hands on. There are lot more Museum, places to go, Restaurant etc.

I forgot to mention Cologne. Take a train to main Station Cologne. Here is the link for the Deutsche Bahn AG:
http://www.bahn.de/p/view/buchung/fahrplanundbuchung.shtml

At the main Station there is the Cathedreal of Cologne.
http://koelner-dom.de/index.php?id=19167&L=0

Check if you can get an audio guide for your language. Then have lunch in one of the breweries in downtown Cologne (only 5 minutes to walk). Then go shopping or to one of the many museums.

Also we have a couple of guides. Most of them are in German. If it is a Problem, just let me know.

Cat
The name of the cat is "Tabsi". In the cellar there is a window with a small exit for here. It is also for entering, but Tabsi does not understand it. She waits in front of the door to be let in. She only has to be fed once a day. Also in the cellar, there is a toilet, but she does not use it. Be aware as she loves to sleep in your bed.
