A charming house in an idyllic southern Swedish village - near Malmö, Lund, Copenhagen
Our beloved house is more than a hundred years old and is located in the middle of Torna Hällestad. It's built in traditional style, but has been renovated several times. The property includes a 1,000 square meter garden with patio, large lawn, fruit trees and small plantations. Torna Hällestad is set in a hilly landscape surrounded by nature reserves and paddocks. Many city dwellers find their way here on weekends to experience nature. Electric vehicle? We have a charging station, Type 2.

Vecindario
Sobre el vecindario
About 800 people live in the idyllic village of Torna Hällestad. The village is 15 km from the university town of Lund and 30 km from Malmö. It's only a one hour drive to Copenhagen Airport.
Right in the middle of the village is the church, dating from the 12th century. The village is surrounded by horse pastures and nature reserves. There are plenty of opportunities for walking or cycling in beautiful scenery. Just a few kilometers from the village there is a small swimming lake and one of the best bird lakes in the country - Krankesjön.
There is a nice playground very close to our house.
Skåne - The Southernmost County in Sweden
This most southern region of Sweden is called Skåne. According to the Lonley Planet guidebook...
Skåne (Scania) is Sweden at its most continental. Connected to Denmark by bridge, its trademark mix of manors, gingerbread-style abodes and delicate, deciduous forests are a constant reminder that central Europe is just beyond the horizon. Dominating the scene is metropolitan Malmö, defined by its cosmopolitan culture and striking, twisting tower. Further out, velvety fields, sandy coastlines and stoic castles create one of Sweden’s most bucolic landscapes. Add to this the fact that Skåne is often dubbed Sweden’s larder and you have yourself one scrumptious Scandi treat.

There are no bigger Intervac pros than Frans and Sonja! It’s very obvious that that they have done this many times before and that they are passionate about the very basic idea of Intervac. The house is a great experience in itself. Everything worked great. Highly recommended!
Our exchange with Sweden was wonderful ! From the very first moment we contacted Joachim and Brigitta we had very nice conversations by WhatsApp which made organising the exchange and arrangements about each other’s houses run very smoothly ! Their neighbours were very friendly and helpful whenever we needed information. And so were the people of the local shop where we enjoyed our fika ( Swedish coffee) and pastries from local agriculture as they were informed about our stay. The house was perfect , very clean and located right in the centre of Skåne ( South Sweden ) . Travelling around went easy. We visited picturesque coastal villages starting from Landskrona ( a must see ) passing Malmo reaching Kivik on the east coast . We did some lovely walks around the lakes near Torna-Hällestad. The tourist info in the house was very useful. The house was super with a beautiful garden and a splendid conservatory from where we observed the local birdlife . When we returned home we got our house back in perfect condition which ranged our exchange as wonderful ! Many thanks to Joachim and Brigitta and do enjoy your next exchanges !

A great intervac exchange. We have done many but this was one of the best. Great house, lovely garden and a nice village. Joakim and Birgitte are great people and all the communications very good. The picture off the garden does get how good the garden actually is.

We're a family of five and the reason why we moved to Torna Hällestad in 1995 is because it was a great place for our kids to grow up in. The children, who are in their 20's, has moved out for work and studies elsewhere.
Joakim is a journalist. Birgitta is working with IT System development and likes to play with her jazzband in her spare time.
We both like to enjoy food, culture and outdoor activities.
