Biarritz :small house close to the ocean and the center
We love the United States and in previous years we enjoyed exploring the country. Now, we'd like to discover more of Europe. We adored Vienna last year, and for 2026, we'd like to explore the Austrian countryside. In fact, all of Northern and Eastern Europe interests us. We enjoy hiking and discovering the culture and history of the regions we travel through.
Biarritz is a famous seaside city in the Pays Basque .Many activities are possible :swimming , surfing , strolling along the sea, Spain is very close and it's easy to get there by train (or the highway ) . :25 kms :San Sebastian (1 hour )and Bilbao ( 2 hours by the motorway ) . You can enjoy the beautiful coastline (Bidart ; Saint Jean de Luz ..)and villages of Pays basque . the Pays basque is a wonderful and beautiful country . Bordeaux is also a magnificent city, 2 hours away by train or road.
The city is very alive with restaurants , cafés , beautifuls shops . People like be simply here to enjoy the weather , the light and the wiew . « J'ai pour moi les vents, les astres et la mer » : the motto of the town is "I have for me the winds , the stars ans the sea " and it says all about the life here .
Our house is small but very well located, bright, and practical. On the ground floor, there's a living room/kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet. Upstairs are the bedrooms: one children's room with two single beds and another with a double bed. There's also a wardrobe and a toilet.
The house is close to the town center. A pharmacy, bakery, library, and small supermarket (Carrefour) are all within a 5-minute walk. The beach, restaurants, cafes, and shops are a 10-minute walk away. You don't need a car to visit other towns and villages. There's a good bus and train network.
For the children , we have games , a Wii console , some DVD and books in english , games .. We have also 2 body boards and 2 scooters ( trottinettes ) .https://www.destination-biarritz.fr/en/
We exchange also our main house in Perigord in the famous city of Sarlat . Our main house has a big garden with orchard (apple trees and peach trees),3 bedrooms . It's perfect for a family with children .There is the river Dordogne or Vezere and plenty of beautiful villages close to the house .

Biarritz has 6 km of beaches and is a famous summer holiday destination well known thanks to his historic past : the emperor Napoleon III and his wife Eugenie loved this small port and they built a palace now became a luxury hotel . Its beaches are characterized by fine sand . Surfing is a very popular activity in Biarritz, .The house is located at the corner of an street (photo) and an avenue ; It's near the city center. In summer , there are many cars but the house has doubleglazed windows . A free little autobus (named 'navette du centre ville') stops in front of the house every 15mn . It served the beach of Casino and all the center . Il is very comfortable with children !We prefered walk to the center : 10 mn : the street go down the beach .
the retail shops (bakery , little supermarket ) are five minutes by walking . The public Library is 5 mn by walk .

Notre hôte était sympathique et réactif. Nous avons pu le rencontrer. L'appartement convient pour 2 personnes qui circulent beaucoup pour profiter de la ville. Il se trouve dans un quartier résidentiel excentré de Innere, Wien à une demi -heure à pieds de Schoenbrunn ce qui peut permettre de profiter du parc. Il est très bien relié par des bus. Attention : machine à laver collective pour l'immeuble avec séchoir dans la soupente. Nous nous y sommes habitués sans difficultés.
Everything went well. We enjoyed the walking distance to the beach, the kids loved it!
Nous avons apprécié cet échange. Nos hôtes étaient sympathiques et réactifs. La maison était confortable, bien située dans un quartier calme et sécure à 5 minutes de 2 supermarchés complémentaires et à 10mn à pieds du Lincoln Park et de Baker Beach. Un tramway passait tout près de la maison pour nous mener vers Chinatown et le centre ville.

We are 58 years old. We used to travel with our children, but now they have their own lives; so we will travel as a couple or with just one of our sons. We also have a cat, but during the holidays he will be looked after by our children. We enjoy discovering the landscapes, culture, and history of the places we visit. I really appreciated the month-long exchanges because they offer a truly immersive experience. But two weeks would also suit us very well.
